Line

I came across this image on a site called 'ffffound' it then made me think about my outcomes. My outcomes turn out better when I merge images together but the threshold effect looked good on the other outcome. So my thought was to create the outcomes on sofware then re-draw them with just simple line.

Type poster

I have started to create words using the 'New Alphabet' type for my poster.

I also came across this poster which I found interesting as the type is mixed and some look like cut outs. Also like how the image they used is inverted.

Herediatary Feature

My grandparents eye colours are Brown, Brown & Brown, Blue
My parents eye colour are Brown & Blue/Green
My eye colour is Brown =(

The reason for this is..

The allele for brown eyes is dominant, and the allele for blue eyes is recessive.

The symbol B = brown eye allele and b = blue allele.

There are three possibilities: BB, Bb and bb.

If you inherit either BB or Bb then you will have brown eyes. If you inherit bb you will have blue eyes.

Other genes determine what shade of blue or brown your eyes are.

More Insperation

Lindsey Nolin has used several odd images in the firt portrait which is what I have startd to experiment with in one of my own posters. Although the second portrait is the same image with parts zoomed in and out which I think gives a nice illusion eventhough it is the same image.

Jason Salavon is an artist that created very obscured images. You can just about work out what the figure is eventhough there isnt any detail on the faces or clothing.

This image has been created by Daniel Lee who is in the center.
These images where created to show how the environment and technology would change your DNA and how you adapt. The first image is how he would have look hundered of yers back and the end image is how he may look in the far-off future...
''
My eyes shrink as electricity eradicates the need to see in the dark. My brain and forehead enlarge as information expands my mind. And my features blend as communication brings cultures closer and closer together -- Asian, Caucasian and so on. Only the ears remain the same size, because we'll never stop needing to listen."

Over-lap

This is an image I came across which has an x-ray effect but is over lapped.
This is the kind of look I am going or with one of my posters.

This type poster was create by David carson the type is legible but is obscured because of the overlapping.
This is a method which I plan to use on my type poster.

Changing Features

These days people can alture there facial features using different procedures.
Plastic surgery is growing in popularity and people are defacing there inherited features.

The late and famous Micheal Jackson was known for his extreme change of physical apperence.
He mangaged to slowly change his inherited features from a black person's to a white persons. For unknown reasons the star made his nose smaller & skin lighter whilst also having surgery on his eyes and the structure of his chin.

It is amazing to see how much of a drastic change can be obtained. I personally don't agree with these procedures and do not think they should be legal. Everyone is perfect they way they are; being unique is being yourself. I am proud of my heritage and find it upsetting that he whet to this extreme to hide it.

Facial Structure

My head is an oval shaped and after taking a quiz
I found this it what my head shape says about me..

You are calm and objective and resolve conflict with diplomacy. You also can be discreet when you need be although you are very open with those you care about. You can be very reserved and hide your sensitivity, feelings and emotions. Values of yours are truth and objectivitiy. You take time to to figure things out before you decide where you stand and dont want to get it wrong. A rule you have dislikes of things that are set in stone; which are firm beliefs, clear cut opinions and decisions you can not go back on.

Which I found is suprisingly true..

The famous Damien Hurst Diamond incrusted skull.
This is a great example of experimenting with physical look of something.
And is also the bare structure of a human head.

Gina Glover

The paper cut-out represents different generations of families, which is on top of an image of a fertilised human egg.

She has created an image to show the variations in human sperm structure.

She has chosen to create the shape of human chromosomes using multi-coloured socks.

Gender Influences

What a woman eats around the time she conceives may influence her baby's gender.

British scientists who used data from 740 first-time mothers found those who ate a few hundred calories more per day around the time they got pregnant were more likely to give birth to boys, than women in the lowest calorie intake group.

Women also had a greater chance of bearing a boy if their diets were higher in potassium, calcium, and vitamins C, E and B12. Also eating breakfast cereals was also strongly associated with having a male infant.

Chromosomes

Chromosomes are the part of our genes that carry heredity information. They are made up of DNA and proteins and are in the nucleus of our cells. Chromosomes determine everything from hair color and eye color to our sex.

The sex chromosomes are the X chromosome and the Y chromosome.

The male sperm cells in humans contain two types of sex chromosomes. . The female gametes or eggs contain only the X sex chromosome. The sperm cell determines the sex of an individual. Therefore if a sperm cell containing an X chromosome fertilizes an egg, the result will be XX or female. If the sperm cell contains a Y chromosome, then the resultwill be XY or male.

Attempts

These are two methods I tried out with the outcomes.
The first is a male which I created useing strips from four different images and adding threshold to merge them.
I dont particually like it as the proprtions of the face aren't right.
Whereas the female one I havent quite completed is already looking alot better.
To add to the uncertainty I added a blur onto the image & the effect on the first outcome.

Meet the Parents

To create my sibling outcomes I am planning on using my parents features and maybe some of my grandparents.

We share 1/2 of our genetic material with our mother and ather. We also share 1/2 of our DNA, on average, with our brothers and sisters. Except Identical twins as they share their entire DNA between them.

The more distant the family relationship, the less genes we have in common.
Our genetic likeness drops by 1/2 with each branch in the family tree.

We share a full 1/4 of our DNA with each of our four grandparents, as well as our aunts and uncles.
Cousins have 1/8 of their genes in common while second cousins are 1/16 alike.

Materials

As the isn't much to research on with siblings I have been looking into what materials im using for my final piece.
I have found out that acetate can only be printed on at A4 size and my poster was ment to be A2.
Therefore I have decided to go with more of an abstract tone; and am planning to print the imagesin sections to fit on the A4 acetate.
Then cut them in odd shapes and tape them back together.

Magazine.. Video..

This is an image that was created by Derek Lea for one of his tutorials
that i found in a 'Computer Arts Projects' magazine.
This of i dea of layering strips if images and tearing them
has given me a new idea of how i could create the A2 poster of myself.
Instead of places different parts of photos togther I could layer them
and rip them instead of having a clean cut finish.

Inspiration

New Alpherbet : Idris Khan : David Hockney
These are my influences for my A2 posters I am going to create.
Im am going to use new alphabet in an abstract typography poster.
I am going to overlap to photographs that are printed on acetate to get an illusion like Idris khan's work.
I am also planning on using several images of my self to create another abstract image.

Mood Board

This is an over all look at my concept.
Things I am going to produce and ideas I am looking at.
Such as the way i am going to create the A2 poster and the final outcomes
the type im going to use, the way im going to display it and the theme in general.
